i got the impression china uses 1 million ton per year as the cut off line between trail & commercial. China always using million ton/year, which always get my head spinning trying to do conversion to bpd.

From memory, that is what GCL is aiming for in its 2 phase program and 3B investment int xilinhot.

BTW, one of the biggest considerations when approving CTL projects are water usage because coal rich provinces in china are also poor in water.

Anyone has any clue of LNC's ucg water usage and efficiency? How much water per ton of oil?

I do remember in xilinhot's plan that they are going to use underground water, but still would like to know where LNC stands comparing to other alternatives.
