My brother rang tonight frothing about Bob Brown's "83% of our mines are owned by foreigners" crap. He asked how we in finance and related industries could let that happen.

I mentioned that in Venezuala, the mines and oil are owned 100% by locals.... same with Cuba. Would he rather live there. If his fiancee kept voting Green we might be there sooner than he thinks.

Did he not understand that miners invest foreign capital here and, as evil as it sounds, would like a return on their investment??? That they pay royalties to the States and income tax to the Federal Government. That they employ directing and indirectly hundreds of thousands of Australians.

My brother is educated, a high end Melbourne architect. If he can't see through this Xenophbic crap then God help us all.
