Only you may know what you mean by this. Back in my days at the ANU (over 20 years ago) the ANU's Economics facility was considered the best in Australia. The failure/drop out rate was around 70% and there was no spoon feeding of students.

Things have changed for the worse across all universities, including Sydney, Melbourne, WA, QLD and they are a shadow of their former self being mainly intent on pushing through fee paying students, especially overseas students.

I am obviously from a different era from you, and you probably have little or no understanding and cannot compare the education standards of the two eras.
