Take the cat with you it will eventually become a hunter in the bush. Its natural instincts will kick in eventually and will hunt mice, rats and rabbits although usually just young rabbits. The cat will help keep the mice out of the house.
Apart from snakes the biggest threat to the cat in the bush is ticks. Those little mothers come out in the warm weather after there has been some rain. My area has ticks all over and paralysis ticks as well. You have to check animals often in the bush especially if they are long haired. Some cats are immune to them though.
