just hang in there, i started the same way, i bought shares in a friends dad co. when i was 18, lost almost all of it, a few years later got offered shares in CAB float at a discount bcos i was a driver bought some, doubled on day 1 so i sold them all and didn't really start trading seriously til about 6 years ago. had a few wins but over all was down for a year or so then picked a few good ones. i don't think there was ever a stock that wasn't up at some stage it's just i wanted more, now i know to sell some for any profit and keep looking for 1 that i'll hang on to. i bought FMG at .66c and saw the potential of a 3rd player in the i/o duopoly and wanted to ride it out but was swayed by all the neg. media saying it would never happen so i sold for a miserable 900 bucks, 18 months later when it hit $72 in intraday trading i felt crushed but i know i'll find another 1.

    good luck
