Hello fellow Hotcopper people!
I actually hold FLT, WEB for quite a while now. But I normally only post in LYC (check my posting track record)!
I've posted multiple times in LYC showcasing how news / events connect with price movements.

First the facts:

1. Europe COVID: COVID cases are problematic in european countries. Especially Saturday when Austria announced their lockdown. Austria even had to make a vaccine mandate https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/austria-mandates-covid-19-vaccines-for-all-as-country-enters-full-lockdown-c-4628511 which be will effective February 2022. HOWEVER if you look at ABC's Vaccine Tracker https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-02/charting-australias-covid-vaccine-rollout/13197518?nw=0, Austrians are going in DROVES to get the vaccine ahead of the lockdown. Likewise its possible many European countries are near, or nearly at their peak infection rates.
2. Merck + Pfizer Pill: Merck although with a lower 50% effectiveness than Pfizer's 90%+ effectiveness applied EARLIER than Pfizer to the FDA. The FDA will meet November 30https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/17/how-covid-antiviral-drugs-from-merck-and-pfizer-work-effectiveness.html to discuss Merck's data and decide on the future course of action. Sadly Pfizer is a bit SLOW.... (they lodged on 16th November)... Merck is already approved in some other nations ie some EU countries, the UK etc. These tablets are necessary to reduce hospitalisations, which makes travelling much more safe.
3. Christmas, Thanksgiving craze: If you remember Astroworld https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/19/us/lawsuit-280-astroworld-festival-attendees-travis-scott/index.html the incident when Travis Scott's concert was overflowing with people, which caused trampling an 10 dead, clearly people are CRAZY and want to go out. HOWEVER, travelling we shall wait and see. I will report in the following days (if people are interested) on maybe airline capacity data (which can be inferred via # of airline routes active + # of aeroplanes in the sky).
4. Soaring Gas Prices: Jets use jetfuel. And gas prices are not nice at all. (Below Gas in blue, FLT in red). HOWEVER it's not a clear causation, as seen below. Sometimes due to declining airline activity, gas prices go down, and so on. So gas prices for now, are probably only partially relevant.
5. Great Resignation: It's clear people are resigning left and right due to bad working conditions after they reflected on their work choices. This can have an affect on the hospitality industry which affects the travelling industry. We need to wait and see for the unemployment numbers coming out next month.

In general, travelling shares seem to do horribly FOR NOW - but from careful analysis, it's clear travelling will be fabulous in the next few days or weeks.
