Your analysis appears to be quite good. Some comments
One thing that you may not have considered is the dividend that BHP can pay out. It has sent no market signals that it's progressive dividend policy is being suspended.
Also, even if the prices fall as you have indicated, and I see no reason why they would not, with the market looking 6 months ahead, they may see through this and look at the longer term and see good value. There would be a lot of investors wanting to snap up BHP at $24, I would suspect
