Just one further thought I can add to this...

The only reason why the banks did not extend the loans is they are greedy..

They thought they might be able to own CNP and each would mange some section of Centro. When they found centro is too complex to manage and own; they let it go and started extending. Why would u think the american banks wanted to extend their loans further if the australians agreed to extend up to september.. They all believe in Centro.. The dosh that it brings is unlike many companies on the stock market...
