I think the answer is, that the market is scared of Macbank.

They realise that if they put in significant monies, that MB is hovering like a helicopter, and can make an offer where the investor cannot match and would be taken over and only regain its money back.

Example only. say XYZ company puts in $50 mil and is given 400 mil shares, well lets say the company SP goes to 35 cents. Well MB coudl come in and offer 35 cents, so those that have held their shares go from 20 ( plus worthless CVN) to 35 cnets.

So the shareholders have improved their  profit ( or loss) and the investor goes to all the trouble of placing money etc and only getting its money back.

That is my take on the situation.  

They are simply frightened by the shadow of the Big Gorrilla.
