I just want to see that first barrel of diesel. The rest of it is irrelevant IMO. If they can prove the technology works, they can get as much financial backing as they want to worry about the scale-up.
Gov't is going to absolutely love them - using our vast coal resources to create a commodity in demand. Win-win situation.
