    SwingT, if you are one of those rare punters who has grown up with no political convictions then it comes down to whether your outlook is for 'personal gain' or for 'the good of the country', your call.
    I would guess that the vast majority of swinging voters are only thinking of their own pockets and that is why the Parties concentrate their firepower on the marginals, offering all sorts of locally inspired goodies such as railways, by-passes, water schemes, etc. but, generally, whoever is 'giving away' the most cannily targeted booty gets the swinger's vote.
    I have political convictions so I don't need to agonize too much when making my decision. I'm voting for the Liberals and their philosophy/values, not for Tony Abbott who is merely the current custodian - as is Julia Gillard on her side.
