Hi Swing,
I joined the Liberal party in May, just before Rudd got rolled - for the first time I am involved in doing anything for politics.
Stimulus spending would have been great - but I feel so much was misdirected. This was the time to "waste" money building infrastructure. Eg. The Parramatta to Epping rail link and many others could have been done... and maybe even payoff the owners of the M2 to allow it.
Also - the insulation scheme, even if it worked perfectly, would (and I think did) kill the pipeline of valid businesses for years as all their business was compressed into the time of the GFC. And as I believe business is vital for employment, I hated this project from day 1.
BER, Green Loans, the Insulation Scheme have demonstrated this Labor team's ability to run projects.
I saw a beautiful opportunity for greener investment (Ceramic Fuel Cells) lost, with the factory now built in Germany, which 1. meant lost industry, and 2. meant lost opportunity to reduce carbon emissions. I don't think they are as green as they pretend.
In all, I see a better team in the Libs, and I joined them to try and see what I can do to work against the bits I hate.
Anyway, that's my 2c. :)
