I view it as positive that MYR's CEO John King is prepared to close a store if woke VCX will not offer what he considers a reasonable deal.
This should give a very strong message to other landlords hosting MYR that the latter means business.
This will probably cost VCX a lot of money. It deserves to have that occur.
MYR has never attracted publicity for failing to pay suppliers, and I've found it incredibly reliable in fulfilling online orders (unlike say KGN and apparently, though I've not used it, WES' catch.com.au ).
In Melbourne, despite communist Premier Daniel Andrews refusing to even mandate that public servants ought be back in the office at least three days a week, CBD shopping has strongly recovered. I gather the same is true in Sydney.
However we can presume that MYR has made a rational decision. Notably, it retains a presence elsewhere in Brisbane at locations including Mt Gravatt, on the Gold Coast at Pacific Fair and Queensland rural cities.
