Whilst everyone talks about AMAZON and online threats to
brick and mortar retailers, let's look at the demographics.
I buy online to get something cheaper, and have that thought
in the back of my head, what will the quality be like?
So my Mum and Aunties don't trust the Internet, love to shop,
love to look and touch. Have a great day out in the city, with lunch,
going to Myer, DJ's, and basically every other shop in the mall,
THAT THEY CAN WALK INTO, and have a chat.
Over 60's are cashed up, and they would rather spend it INSTORE
than online. Sure, maybe they will buy somethings online, but when
they want to get guaranteed quality, they TRUST a place they can walk into.
As case in point, was a purchase online by a person I know who is 84.
Got delivery, and was not happy, so put the item in the bin, and went to a large
retailer and spent 5 times as much as the online purchase. TRUST.
I look forward to AMAZON, but, if I want a quality item, into the city I go.
It is the experience of a face to face, tactile retail transaction that beats price.
