Nutella shocks to become Myer's top-selling Christmas gift

Melburnians sure love Nutella – so much so that, to Myer's shock, personalised jars of the hazelnut spread are the department store's top-selling item this Christmas.
Myer has sold more than 400,000 personalised jars across the state, 50,000 at the flagship store in Melbourne alone. At $12.95 a jar, that's quite a tidy profit.
Myer began offering personalised jars of Nutella during Christmas for the first time after approaching Nutella's Italian manufacturer Ferrero.
A booth at the store allows the label to be customised to include any name or string of words in the Nutella typeface, replacing the logo.

Myer's executive general manager Tony Sutton thinks the idea has proven so popular because of the uniqueness and price point.
"It's a great Kris Kringle or stocking filler," he said.
"You know when you've got someone difficult to buy for or have lots of things already? Guaranteed they won't have this."
