If everyone came down to Earth and thought about it, many more would accept cash. My local butcher thanked me for paying cash, as I saved him from a bit of his bank charge bill.. Yes, small business can "hide" the income, but it is a hell of a lot less than what the Banks can increase income from these businesses.
I wish the weekend garage sales people all the best, and wonder how long before they are forced to buy an EFPOS machine .......... (and to those that will respond with "they are available to purchase, as is a Tap & Go on your phone", that is old news)
