Before the credit card monthly payment is taken- cancel the card

before the payment is due - physically go into the store to explain the the card no longer exists and that you will pay the debit in store in cash


I don’t think anyone can refuse that

it’d be an interesting exercise.

Quite possibly- if you have offered to pay the entire debt in cash and they have refused - I’m not sure, but I think you could be the rightful owner.

Only attempt if bored and entertained by legal proceedings.
(and can afford a lawyer, time and the guts to take it all the way . )
