Hi xsmangos, I'm not surprised to read this. I need to take nicotinic acid (a specific form of niacin) daily and for many years it cost me around $10 for a month's supply. It was manufactured by Alphapharm and I believe they were the only ones making it in Australia. The company was taken over by Mylan and overnight the price trebled to $30. I get it from the US now for about $3 plus shipping (expensive), but it's a bit of a hassle as our Government restricts import to 3 months supply, which supports companies like Mylan ripping us off.
