Personal observation is insufficient to draw conclusions, but each time I am in the MYR Melbourne CBD store, provided it's a fair bit later than opening time of 1000 AEDT, I notice many younger shoppers, largely females.
MYR CEO Mr King previously remarked as to how MYR was seeing somewhat of a change in shopper demographics. I don't know how widespread this change is, and how much individuals in the age group of say 18 to 29 spend on a typical visit against older shoppers 55 plus.
Australian society as a whole is getting older: median age is about 38.
