When you refer to retail sales collapsing, that is a wide range of stuff covered by "retail". It is not necessarily everthing that retails has collapsed, fashion retail has not collapsed, cosmetics sales have not collapsed and I see Myer and DJs in the city being quite busy most days...
Although some fashion labels and cosmetic companies have gone down, their business model just didn't work well, but its not the whole industry - those departments in the big stores are doing well I believe and have successfully selected brands that are profitable generally.
