Without knowing your excellent information (thank you for posting!), I bought back in today.
Goodness, MYR has 68 Barbie items in its range. I know zilch about the subject but that number in stock is impressive. If your point about exclusivity is correct, the MYR online staff will be very busy.
My hypothesis is if trading had turned disastrous, the MYR Board would be obliged to authorise an ASX announcement.
It hasn't done this AFAIK, so sales, EBITDA and hopefully NPAT should be OK, or (putting on my optimistic hat) good.
The 'middle class with money' to which MYR largely caters won't be unaffected by rises in energy costs and supermarket prices plus many other items, but many will have the capacity to ride out any storm. Perhaps some will go on strike with their wallets/smartphone apps/purses but a sizeable number will continue to patronise outlets like MYR (even though the company may have to discount more to entice people in-store, or to shop online).
I have confidence in John King. Once he departs in CY 2024, Solly Lew will still have a representative on the Board so that should help MYR's focus if Lew hasn't by then lobbed a takeover bid.
Let's see whether I've made the most unwise call of calendar 2023.
