Retail sales better than expected again - growth of 0.4% for the month, that's three months in a row of growth. Also nice to see department stores share grew 0.5% for the month of june.
I've BOLDED the main points.
- The trend estimate rose 0.3% in June 2018. This follows a rise of 0.4% in May 2018 and a rise of 0.4% in April 2018.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate rose 0.4% in June 2018. This follows a rise of 0.4% in May 2018 and a rise of 0.5% in April 2018.
- In trend terms, Australian turnover rose 3.1% in June 2018 compared with June 2017.
- The following industries rose in trend terms in June 2018: Food retailing (0.4%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (0.7%), Household goods retailing (0.3%), Department stores (0.5%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.2%), and Other retailing (0.1%).
- The following states and territories rose in trend terms in June 2018: New South Wales (0.5%), Victoria (0.5%), Tasmania (0.9%), South Australia (0.2%), the Australian Capital Territory (0.8%), Western Australia (0.1%), and the Northern Territory (0.7%). Queensland (0.0%) was relatively unchanged in June 2018.
