DuPont profit more than doubles

DuPont has reported a more than doubling of its first-quarter profits, boosted by the completion of the near-$5bn sale of its performance coating business, and supported by rising demand for its genetically modified seeds.

The US chemicals company reported net income of $3.35bn in the first quarter of the year, up from $1.49bn during the same period last year. Revenues grew 2 per cent to $10.4bn.
