Can someone explain how this might work.

In the NAB notice of 5 July MLC Investments held 14,132,801 shares and NAB 10,029,416 shares.

In the NAB notice of 7 August MLC were a net seller of 2,420,934 shares or 17% of prior holding, but NAB securities lending increased by 12,797,194 and decreased by 15,372,984 or net decrease of 2,575,790 or reasonably similar numbers.

Given they only had 10,029,416 to start with how can you lend more than you held.

If we were to assume NAB lent to MLC what is the implications?
