While I agree with you in some of your comments, there are several things that IMHO don't add up at all.

And one of them is the amount of shorting that is still going on with AOE, while we have an offer set in concrete on the table, and the continuous lending of shares by NAB to whoever is doing the shorting.

As to why the ASX is not doing something about it, nor asking questions to the culprit knowing full well that is is an harmfull exercise towards the small retail shareholders, is totally beyind me and beyond comprehension.

But, you never know. Maybe someone is sitting on the sideline waiting and baiting his time, to make a move.
