    I agree with you that the current move in the $US (and concomitant move in gold, as each are quoted in terms of the other) defies logic. I'm no subscriber to Conspiracy Theory, however, this smacks so strongly of Intervention. Is there coincidence because so many are focused on the Olympics? Who is financing this strength in the $US? It can't be the Americans. After spending on the War, together with the mess that is the US economy the Federal Reserve is bankrupt. Are the Arabs, Nigerians and Russians trying to protect their $US holdings which oil sales generated? Who outside of the US has the biggest holding of $US? I don't know. Perhaps the Chinese. In my opinion, for what it's worth, this move in the $US is cannot last. I think that it's a damming up of pressure, and when the dike breaks, all hell will break loose.
