JetBlue,
Your maths is pretty good. I only posted the eBay price for lime as a guide. Even with a 90% discount! and only costing $120 per tonne, the treatment cost for Lime onto AASS and PASS would be anywhere from approximately $12- $40 / tonne of soil at the rates described on the fact sheet.
Firstly, delivery of the lime. There will be charge for that.
Then there's labour to spread and mix. Who knows the $$ but it certainly is not $0.
Then the cost of the testing and reporting. I did food testing years ago while a science student at uni and samples of our products had to be tested and the results stored and sent off to Government agencies. It was not free. Employees were paid to do it. Whatever we couldn't do "in house" had to be contracted out. The EPA will insist on records.
So add all those components together and what do you get? I say a good chance the soil will be tipped into a pit of alkaline water.
Cheers
Nanu
