Think you've misunderstood it. That is naked short selling - selling stock you haven't borrowed, and therefore there is an unlimited amount of it. Short selling is fine and should be left alone.

But........ as usual the US has to intervene in markets to protect their own fraudulent, criminal mates. Really cant believe they have an emergency order to ban just plain short selling in a select group of financials.

This is manipulation of free markets of the highest order. These companies are being shorted because they are going down. They are not going down because they are being shorted.
