Reality is, the red states are mostly very poor, welfare states that receive more in federal funding than they pay in taxes. The deep red states have the country's worst education systems and healthcare systems.
The Democrat states like Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, California, Washington are very wealthy.
Republican states like Mississippi, West Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas are very poor.
Add that on to other facts like the U.S. economy grows faster under Democrats and you can see that the Republicans are actually the party of poverty.
When they say they 'cut taxes' it means they 'cut taxes for the rich'. They aren't good at growing the economy. They are only good at helping the wealthy stay wealthy.
