Namibian Uranium Projects to Create 8,000 Jobs, New Era Reports

Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Four new uranium mines in Namibia are expected to create 8,000 jobs when they open within the next five years, New Era reported, citing Veston Malango, general manager of the Chamber of Mines of Namibia.

Between 2010 and 2015, Areva SA's Trekkopje mine, Forsys Metals Corp.'s Valencia project, Bannerman Resources Ltd.'s Etango and Swakop River site, and the Rossing South mine owned by Extract Resources Ltd. are expected to begin operations, the Windhoek-based newspaper said.

Once the four mines reach full production, Namibia may become the world's biggest producer of the nuclear fuel, the newspaper cited Malango as saying.
