The future is an exciting but dangerous place for our children and grandchildren. The selfish side of politics and ego's of world leaders have not served many people well during Covid-19 and yet it looks like thanks to science and the huge capacity of the human spirit to dig deep and take one year instead of ten to develop vaccines will probably see the world get over the line.
Since the Ebola outbreak five years ago a panel of the world's 100 best scientific brains was convened by the WHO and they warned the world that a pandemic bullet had been missed and greater resources were needed world wide to be devoted by governments into planning how to provide hospital capacity and protect supply chains but alas nothing was done and millions have perished.
Brainchip has an opportunity to harness and popularise the notion of beneficial Ai in the current environment with its proposed Volatile Organic Compound non invasive detector so that when a virus is detected which has the potential to be the next pandemic immediate and early action can be taken.
However Scientists are already working on the idea of predicting in advance what virus, bacteria or parasite might jump from animals to humankind and start working on the vaccine, the antiviral, antibiotic or antiparasitic drug before the jump occurs. When I read this and how advanced this thinking is my immediate thought was Brainchip and a Volatile Organic compound detector for animals. Completely non invasive and where wild animals are concerned capable of being administered in real time in their native environment taking the early diagnostic system that AKIDA offers once step further back and making it an early warning system as part of the development of the predictive system currently being developed.
Even leaving aside this use for the technology here in Australia in the horse industry the Hendra virus is a very serious issue and can be fatal. Needless to say anyone working with horses would most likely be happy to have a non invasive test that would not distress the animal but would give immediate real time warning of the virus:

We have created "a perfectstorm" for diseases from wildlife to spill over into humans and spreadquickly around the world, scientists warn.
Human encroachment on the natural world speeds up that process.
This outlook comes from global health experts who study how and wherenew diseases emerge.
As part of that effort, they have now developed a pattern-recognitionsystem to predict which wildlife diseases pose most risk to humans.
This approach is led by scientists at the University of Liverpool, UK,but it is part of a global effort to develop ways to prepare better for futureoutbreaks.
'We dodged five bullets'
"In the last 20 years, we've had six significant threats - SARS,MERS, Ebola, avian influenza and swine flu," Prof Matthew Baylis from theUniversity of Liverpool told BBC News. "We dodged five bullets but thesixth got us.
"And this is not the last pandemic we are going to face, so we needto be looking more closely at wildlife disease."
As part of this close examination, he and his colleagues have designed apredictive pattern-recognition system that can probe a vast database of everyknown wildlife disease.
Across the thousands of bacteria, parasites and viruses known toscience, this system identifies clues buried in the number and type of speciesthey infect. It uses those clues to highlight which ones pose most of a threatto humans.
If a pathogen is flagged as a priority, scientists say they could directresearch efforts into finding preventions or treatments before any outbreakhappens.
"It will be another step altogether to find out which diseasescould cause a pandemic, but we're making progress with this first step,"Prof Baylis said.
