ie a foundry / fab will require high volume / low cost advantage from the word go - they will not buy on spec for something that shows promise - or requires additional development - it simply does not happen no matter what the pundits claim

Foundry / fab will run a risk volume run ( 1000 units) when considering a new soc that is characterised, completed verification and is packaged as a proto chip - that is a demo run cost written off on the line expense at approx $10,000 usd ( as a rough guideline of course) for the privilege.......from that outcome they extend the cost to manufacture over volume and make a decision to adopt or not ........this is the important part - they are looking for an order of magnitude saving on the current fab lines production or they will not pick it up.
and that is no matter how fantastic the new soc is

only 2 asx listed soc companies have that cost advantage right now and that is wbt and nvu/emass

don't worry about end user contracts because they will not happen if the above criteria is not met by the soc in question at fab/ foundry level - anyone bringing a chip to market in the hope it will be a gamechanger and has not run these numbers first will not make it - even in this AI billion zillion dollar bubble it remains more the case than ever.

Even niche production runs ( 25,000 units per qtr not per month) must return similar dollar cost numbers or the foundry fab will pass on the process
Emass soc exceeds this benchmark req. easily

plenty miss this very simple baseline benchmark for initial adoption success and industry uptake - the soc must prove that order of magnitude return at the get go or there is no get go going to happen

just my opinion of course and many think it is nonsense because they have not dug in and made the investigation for their investment
