The bonafide published studies I've seen show that the data corrections for instrument changes, location changes, heat island effect etc, reduce the observed warming trend. Exactly the opposite of what this "veteran journalist" is claiming.
Can the author please publish his data, all email correspondence, the algorithms he has used and any relevant factors so that exactly how he managed to cock this up can be assessed. Peer review usually points out problems before publication. Shame he didn't bother with that.
And the usual denialistas go fanboy over this old journalists hogwash.
