Thanks Tarvold. Appreciated and agree it is only a component of a portfolio. In my case I'm looking at around 10%.
Yes I get that the risks of the ups and downs are magnified but I'm looking to identify the risk outside of the movement of the Nasdaq. I am happy to assume the risk of the movement in the Nasdaq and willing to assume 12% p.a over the next ten years as per the last 15years. Many folk that I have run this by say it is risky and should not be considered long term but I cannot identify a specific investment reason outside of the magnified loss/gain outcome. I totally take your point about buying and selling at the wrong time after .com crisis. But had you held through the crisis which is my intention, then you have done exceptionally well even with that very bad period. One only needs to use the chart you provided and look at the recovery in the next 4 years.
Even recently LNAS dropped 30% during three weeks of Covid. Has picked up 40% since.
Take your point about fees.-1.0% is far from ideal but if I work with the 12% long term growth I can wear that....especially prior to 2.6x.
Apart from magnifying Nasdaq movement what other risks should I be considering??
