Spikes nearly always come back after the run stops to various degrees and that is why spikes are a boon to shorters most times. Being experienced they know better than most when the spike normally peters out and the fall starts. The really crooked ones may exaggerate the spike before taking a position to make the fall a larger %.
Rinse and repeat.
Occasionally they lose doing this of course when news happens, they did not plan for such as a takeover offer during the falling phase.
