The third part is what people actually asked for. Non scientific and not fully explained by its source, hence why it doesn't belong on the official NASDAQ update thread. The source is the Webull trading app, and they only provide the following explanation:
I have deduced the following: they look at all Meso trades on NASDAQ, and ignore trades that land between the bid and ask prices. If they land on the asking price, they classify the trade as a buy. If price lands on the bid, they classify it as a sale. As for size, the thresholds change daily. They look at trades for all stocks on NASDAQ, and rank them smallest to largest after doing some unexplained adjustment for market cap. Then they set the thesholds for the day so the bottom 25 percent of trades are small, the next 50 percent are medium and the top 25 percent are large. Then they see where the Meso trades land in that overall market ranking and produce the daily flow chart.
