Hi. It's called a W-8 form. I only have an international trading account for the SMSF, so maybe it is simpler for individuals. For the SMSF it was a bit complicated because the shares are held by the corporate trustee of the SMSF. I have to open another international trading account with commsec now because I also hold KZA in my own name so I will find out how complicated it is for individuals. Commsec just changes their US broker so we had to resubmit our US W-8 tax forms.
Basically, once your international trading account is set up in commsec they will tell you what else is needed because you won't be able to place any trades until everything they need is in place. When you log in, you can click on "Settings" from the menu and on the next page, there will be a column on the left listing anything that is outstanding.
