The flooding is a good opportunity for surveyors and Engineers to see what may happen in times of high rainfall either in the immediate area or as we see now farther afield.

Such knowledge will be helpful when production infrastructure is being put in place. As someone who lived in the west of Queensland years ago I wondered at the houses on stilts only to be told wait until the floods come. And come they did often out of a clear blue sky, the water traveling from far upstream. The old stilt house stayed high and dry while slab on ground homes went under.
