After speaking to my friend at the NBN company he told me:
"I believe the Netcomm one works with Fiber and can handle the speeds. Once they roll out you'll need one. Its actually suggested by NBN. Hold onto your shares I guess.
Its the publics choice which one they buy though it's not NBN who will buy."
So pretty obvious stuff I suppose. The fibre optic network is getting a massive upgrade, if your hardware can handle the speeds great, otherwise you will need new hardware. Considering the typical modem has a maximum speed of 24Mbps and the NBN should provide at least 100Mbps I am guessing we are going to see a lot of new equipment being bought to handle the speeds...Ka-Ching!
