Having lived in the UK which have public dental through their NHS. Their teeth are disgusting and makes me appreciate Australia's highly skilled private dental sector and I am happy a dentist makes a profit while keeping my teeth in tip top shape.
To see a GP in the UK you can also wait up to 1 week at times so public isn't always the answer.
Also on the point of private health i've also stayed in Hong Kong where GP's are private. They are cheap, no waiting around and they are everywhere so you can shop around your prices. (I mean everywhere, including shopping centre's and train stations!)
Much more enjoyable experience seeing a GP in Hong Kong than a medicare quack where you sit around for 1 hr just to be given Antibiotics when you don't even need them then rushed out of his office while he bills medicare.
