Full marks for trying to look outside the box @moorookamick Very few people on any side of politics are.

The quality of advice received by politicians these days can be extremely poor because the best, brightest and most committed are not usually interested in a public sector career. As I saw it, excessive politicisation started in the early 80s and has become progressively worse ever since. Flunkies with bad attitudes towards their staff reign supreme.

So what should we do? What can we do?

We must start by exiting Trump's re-election campaign. We have no place there, and in any case the Trump economic and trade war reeks of pure fiasco. I'm not letting Xi off the hook either. Hardliners under Xi are using Trump as a bogeyman for internal political purposes and moderates are being purged.

All that being said, a Biden reproach with Xi won't fix things . Most punters on these forums brainlessly "presume" that money can simply be printed to overcome a convergence of events that go way beyond COVID reduced demand and productivity. As a consequence, punters are not interested in what we may have to say, discuss or argue about. We are just "doomers" in their eyes.

Unlike the Singapore example you cite, Australia is reactive rather than proactive in its response to circumstances that have changed for the worse.

The National Cabinet does need to continue but it needs to be advised by the best and the brightest ....... not by same groups of failed lobbyists and public sector flunkies that put Victoria into the position it is currently in (because they pushed Andrews not to act sooner and harder).

Anyway, we need to be progressing an analysis of every industry and sub-industry on an assumption that raw materials prices will not hold up for more than 12 months (as the global situation matures into a prolonged depression).
