This Sunday at 12 noon ABC Landline will feature a story on the growth of the Australian Sandalwood Industry in WA, as distinct from the Indian Sandalwood Industry in Kunnunnarra. It will focus on the prospects for the sandalwood nut and the ability of the crop to drought proof Australia and significantly reduce our demand on artificial fertilizers (at least this is the way I am hoping the sub editor takes the story). It will also discuss the capacity constraints slowing growth and tackle some of the politics in the industry - ie like why the State Govt uses Federal funds to further the growth of its own sandalwood business and not that of the broader industry.
