It was agreed in the fall of the USSR that Nato would not expand to the east yet they expanded 5 times since 1990.
Ukraine was offered to apply by Nato which being on Russias border with a decent military was simply a step too far.
This is all due to Nato arrogance and they should have met with Putin to discuss his concerns.
