The magical exponentialy expanding military force, whose supposed "raison d'etre" was to protect the Europeans at the end of WW2 from an alleged "uncle Joe" planned Russian invasion, when the real danger to European peace was Churchill's machevilan operation "unthinkable" plan to invade and destroy Russia.
They decided to pick an easier target, as they didn't have the 'A' bombs ready, and so chose North Korea and bombed and naplamed it into the "stone age", why because after Hamburg, Dresden et al, they had become addicted to it, it,s what they do.

Ergo, nato could not grow its war mongering any more in eastern Europe, as "uncle Vlad" had stopped that, so it looks further afield, to find better easier targets and continue its cancerous growth in South America and even signing up Australia and New Zealand as "global partners" (meaning vassals). Not sure how this affects our office of "deputy sheriff of the region status though.
For the record Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, and has long being a target for takeover.
