Feeling a bit sad after waking up to birds going crazy. Husband pointed to two really large black eagles with a body on the hill. It was the white Ibis that had been sharing the dam with duckss. Went outside and picked up some rocks. Hard to run in hubby's shoes. One flew away, one looked at me. Then realised it had another carcass. Could have been a hare.

Since then all birds have been totally silent. No swallows or magpies or crows. All quiet again this morning. I still feel sad for it. It must have been near the hare when they spotted it.

Second time we've had eagles hunt here. Last year I came home to three attacking birds and a calf. Tried to take some good photos but they were moving pretty fast and I never saw one of them when it came at me from the left. Managed to duck under a tree at the last minute.
