Another mystery - this Comb-Crested Jacana came for a visit just off the shiraz terrace. Don't see very many often. Both of us rushed for cameras and managed a few shots. Check out the size of those "feet". Bird moved to the outer edge of the lilly pads and while both of us unfortunately had our eye on the viewfinder, it dived or fell or was knocked into the water. We assumed it had dived and waited for it to come up. It never did and we had a view of most of the lake. I don't think Jacanas do swim or dive so there is the mystery. I think it was taken out by something; but what? An eel is the only thing I can think of. Or did it fall in and drown. There was no frantic splashing: it just disappeared. Over to the sleuths.
