PM Abbott thought it was inconceivable that anyone at home would need even a 25Mbps download for that interwebs thingy he didn't understand. And his former employer Rupert Murdoch told him he would provide Foxtel for $125 a month for a basic package to us, so no need for streaming videos or high speed internet. Abbott said ok, let's destroy the NBN, but then reluctantly agreed to fibre to the node.

Fast forward almost a decade. In the midst of a pandemic we're all streaming and dependent on high speed internet. Family FaceTime catch-ups, video calls, endless Zoom meetings, multiple streaming services, database work, cloud backups, multiple devices. The system is barely coping. The thought of Abbott and Murdoch's preferred ADSL2 powering the country now would have made us the laughing stock of the world.

We should have over specced. Surely people who opposed the NBN then must get it now. Scott Morrison and the Liberal Party do. Finally.

Very hard for anyone who has been sold a pup, betrayed really, to admit, let alone embrace something after being duped. We've seen it all our lives e.g. RL Vs AFL, Holden Vs Ford, Collingwood Vs Everyone else, etc. It's not in our nature to admit we put far too much trust in our influencers and life coaches ..it's unAustralian to admit a large % of us are dills when it comes to trust.
