With the absolute disaster that NBN is, I believe FTTC as an alternative to the rubbish that FTTN is, provides the government with a middle ground face-saving opportunity it is likely to take in the not too distant future. NBN will be a political disaster for the Coalition who have butchered a national infrastructure project like you wouldn't believe. NBN delivers slower speeds than the ADSL arrangements it replaces in many areas and people are more than a little p1ssed off. Hopefully this will provide NTC with opportunities. I have calculated that NBN has cost me about $130k in TLS and TPM share holder value, so I could do with some compensation through NTC, although I'll never cover those losses.
