Zonetrader, fibre is just the means of transporting the data.
While what bolts on the ends of the fibre cable will change, the fibre cable will stay the same.
The same way as the Telegraph used copper over 100 years ago and ADSL2+ still uses copper today.
The fibre is at no more risk of being out date in the foreseeable future than our roads are due to the advent of flying cars.
Current research and development into the bolt ons for fibre will ensure fibre continues for a long time yet.
