What annoys me about this topic is the media latches onto it and everyone panics.
Asbestos doesn't hunt you down and infect you. Its in hundred of thousands of homes still, maybe even millions, in this country. The majority of water pipes servicing the drinking water of the county, millions of kilometers, has asbestos in them......oh and a few thousand Telstra pits have asbestos in their construction.
If you were born pre 1980, you can be guranteed you've been expeosed to asbestos in your life. Either from home reno's, visitng other peoples homes, industrial offices, warehouses, factories.....the list goes on, you've come in contact with it believe me. How do you reckon every tradie in the whole entire coutnry has lived to older than 40?
Maybe we all should add our names to the register. If a crumbling pit is hit with a pressure washer, the water is the best tool against spreading the dust further than necessary.
Storm in a teacup. And I'd drink from that cup too!
